WHAT IS LESS?
LESS is a San Francisco based technology company. Our goal is to change the entire car owning experience and bring competitive pricing to our customers. LESS is not a vehicle lessor, dealer, or manufacturer, and LESS is not receiving a commission, rebate, kickback, or any other payment from any vehicle lessor, dealer, or manufacturer. Besides the $399 /year LESS membership fee, all payments you make regarding these vehicles are to other entities.
We negotiate in bulk to get the best value possible from car dealers, car manufacturers and banks. We then pass on those savings to our members. You can think of us as Costco or Netflix for cars.
HOW DOES LESS WORK?
LESS provides our members the opportunity to drive a different premium vehicle every year for a cheaper price than traditional vehicle leases. Like traditional leases, there is a 36-month commitment. However, unlike traditional leases, our customers have the flexibility to switch vehicles and drive a different premium car every year through pre-arranged lease transfers coordinated by LESS.
After credit approval on vehicle one, we will let you know the monthly payment, MSRP, and VIN for all your vehicles. The LESS membership fee is collected at the delivery of each vehicle using credit card or bank account.
HOW MUCH DOES LESS COST?
It costs $399 /year to be a LESS member, but it quickly pay for itself through the discount on your car. Your monthly payment will be 15%-20% cheaper through our bulk arrangement. LESS members are also eligible to receive fleet incentives from select car manufacturers in addition to the substantial discount (with no interest mark up) from the dealer.
HOW DO I CHANGE MY CAR WITH LESS?
If you choose to drive multiple cars (up to three cars in three years) with LESS, a month prior to the start of your second or third year as a LESS member, you will receive an email from LESS regarding your vehicle transfer instructions. To acquire your next vehicle, you will be applying to a vehicle lessor to take over the existing lease of another LESS member. At the same time, another LESS member will be applying to take over the lease on your current vehicle.
In most cases, the transfer aligns with your vehicle's annual service. After your lease transfer paper work is in order, all you need to do is to drop off your car at our partner dealership. Your second/third car will be ready for pick up at around the same time. Alternative transportation or loaner vehicle will be provided during the transfer process. There might be a penalty if a LESS member refuses to follow the Membership Agreement.
WHAT HAPPENS IF LESS FAILS TO ARRANGE A NEW CAR?
This does not normally happen, but if LESS is unable to facilitate a vehicle transfer, LESS will make a one-time payment as follows:
- If LESS is unable to perform the first vehicle transfer within 30 days of the Scheduled Vehicle Transfer Date, LESS shall pay the member $2,000.
- If LESS is unable to perform the second vehicle transfer within 30 days of the Scheduled Vehicle Transfer Date, LESS shall pay the member $1,000.
LESS’s liability is limited to the payment described above. LESS members are still liable to the vehicle lessor for the entire term of the vehicle lease. In the event of LESS's failure to facilitate a vehicle transfer, no further membership payments are due.
HOW DOES MAINTENANCE WORK?
All of our cars include a pre-paid maintenance plan from the car manufacturer. Simply drop the car off at our partner dealership when your car is due for service. It will be free for you. Alternative transportation or loaner vehicle will be provided while your car is in service.
HOW MANY MILES CAN I DRIVE?
You can drive 12,000 miles a year. Additional miles are usually $0.25 each, which is comparable to or cheaper than the depreciation of these vehicles. This allows us to keep monthly cost low, while still providing an affordable option for those who drive more. (For example, an additional 20,000 miles over 3 years costs just $5,000, less than 10% of the new vehicle value.) Members will pay excess mileage charges to LESS at each transfer, and LESS will pay the lessor any excess mileage charges due at the end of each vehicle's lease.
